HELLO

My work aims to capture a small moment in time, defined by loose brush strokes in a fast layering of paint to capture a moment of ‘aliveness’. I utilise my own observations and findings in my natural surroundings, whether it be from a simple walk on the beach, a mountain hike, or from a piece of foliage I found in my urban area, to an observation of the way light fractures through dense foliage.

I continually seek to strike a balance between earthy and energetic tones to achieve a sense of movement in my subject matter. A consideration of proportion, balance and scale is drawn from my design background in architecture, yet is applied to create the illusion of spontaneity for the viewers eye.

The catalyst for my early pieces came about from living and creating art in my van whilst travelling around Australia for 6 months in 2019/2020. Whilst living very intimately and minimally in my natural surroundings, painting has now evolved into a full time practice.
